Analysis of Combustion and Emission Characteristics of SI Engine Powered with Diethyl Ether Blended Petrol as Fuel
نویسنده
چکیده
Incomplete burning of the fuel and high emission in the engine were the major problems in using the petrol as a fuel. In this Experimental study, the effects of Diethyl Ether, petrol fuel blend investigated on four stroke four cylinder SI engine for analyzing the performance and combustion characteristics. The tests were performed while running the engine at speeds of 1500&1000 rpm and at four different engine load conditions (0, 3, 6, 9 kW). The results obtained from the use of Diethyl Ether, petrol fuel blends are compared to those of sole petrol in SI engine. The results indicated that when Diethyl Ether, petrol fuel blends were used, the Brake Specific Fuel Consumption and exhaust emission are decreased. Exhaust gases namely, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and total unburned hydrocarbons are measured using AVL exhaust gas analyzer. Performance and exhausts emissions are compared with sole petrol, using Diethyl Ether, petrol fuel blends. This oxygenates shows significant improvement for exhaust emission and also fuel consumptions at different load conditions. Exhaust Emission Analysis of an Internal Combustion Engine Fuelled with Hydrogen-Ethanol Dual Fuel
The work presented in this paper is an attempt to evaluate the exhaust emission characteristics of a hydrogen-ethanol dual fuel combination with different percents of hydrogen substitutions (i.e. 0-80 % by volume and of 20 % increment ) at three different compression ratios of 7:1, 9:1 and 11:1. Experimental investigations have been carried out on a computer interfaced with; four-stroke cycle, ...

The dual-fuel diesel engine (D.F.D.E) is a conventional diesel engine in which much of the energy released, hence power, comes from the combustion of gaseous fuel such as natural gas. The exhaust emission characteristics of the D.F.D.E needs further refinements, particularly in terms of reduction of Unburnt Hydrocarbons (U7HC) and Carbon Monoxide (CO) emission, because the concentration of thes...
متن کاملEffect of Initial Temperature and EGR on Combustion and Performance Characteristics of Homogenous Charge Compression Ignition Engine Fueled with Dimethyl Ether
Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) combustion is a pioneer method of combustion in which pre-mixed fuel and oxidizer (typically air) are compressed to the point of auto-ignition. HCCI engines can operate with most alternative fuels, especially, dimethyl ether (DME) which has been tested as a possible diesel fuel due to its simultaneously low NOx and PM emissions. In this paper a ...

متن کاملThe Effects of Ethanol–gasoline Blend on Performance and Exhaust Emission Characteristics of Spark Ignition Engines
The effects of unleaded gasoline and unleaded gasoline–ethanol blends on engine performance and pollutant emissions were investigated experimentally in a single cylinder, four-stroke spark-ignition engine with variable engine speeds (2600–3500 rpm). Four different blends on a volume basis were applied. These are E0 (0% ethanol + 100% unleaded gasoline), E3 (3% ethanol + 97% unleaded gasoline), ...
